Biography Matthew Praksas has his B.Mus.Ed. (high honours) in piano from the University of Saskatchewan under Bonnie Nicholson’s instruction, and regularly accompanies various artists and ensembles throughout the city such as student recitals and with Ppl R Ppl Productions. He continues to work closely with Kathleen Lohrenz Gable to further the development of his playing. Celebrating having a diversity of students in both skill level and age range in his growing studio, Matthew strives to customize lessons for each student, predominantly shaped by classical and RCM training. Engaging the imagination through active listening and guided expression are ways in which he chooses to inspire his students.

Biography Sharon was born and raised in Yorkton, SK, and her first teachers were Rosalie Calver and Jean Laube . After receiving her ARCT (Associateship with Royal Conservatory of Toronto) in piano performance in 1988, she went on to receive her LTCL (Licentiate with Trinity College, London, England) under the direction of Robin Harrison. He has had a very succes sful piano and voice studio in Humboldt and area since 1993, and many of her students have gone on to win Provincial awards and careers in music. She is an active collaborative pianist for both professional musicians as well as students. She has given a great deal of her time to the Marysburg community, both as the collaborative pianist for the Marysburg Festival of the Arts concert series, as well as their annual Christmas concert. She is very active in church music, in local choirs, and as an adjudicat or. Her latest interest is in composing, especially Christian music. She has 3 adult daughters that are all very musical and her greatest joy is spending time with them.

Biography Michael Swan began violin studies at age 5 with Dorothy Overholt, and also studied with Norma Lee Bisha, Mark Reedman and Robert Klose as he was growing up. In 1979, he was awarded the Gold Medal for the highest standing in Canada for Royal Conservatory of Toronto ARCT violin examinations. Michael studied with Yuri Mazurkevich in the Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario, receiving the Hideo Saito Award for academic achievement in 1981 and 1982. Afterwards, he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia with Aaron Rosand, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in 1984. Since September 1984, Michael has been concertmaster of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. He has been a soloist with the orchestra a number of times. He performs solo recitals regularly, and has several compositions to his credit. He has been featured on CBC radio as a solo violinist and as a composer.
