Biography Han Gong has 20 years of piano performance experience and 8 years of piano teaching experience. After finishing her Bachelor of Music Education in Guangzhou University (China), she continues to study for her Masters degree in Arts – Piano Performance at the University of Saskatchewan. Biography Joan Halmo teaches piano on all levels. Artistic Director and Coordinator at Gustin House, she currently represents SRMTA on the University of Saskatchewan Senate. She has served the musical community in various ways, including as adjunct professor of musicology and researcher/writer at university, lecturer on music, and church music director.

Biography Michele teaches piano, rudiments, voice and musical theatre in Saskatoon. She is also a voice coach and accompanist. She is kept busy as a pianist/organist and soloist for funerals. Michele was the founder and musical director of Cecilian Singers.

Biography Eunice has an active music studio in Erindale, teaching piano to all ages from beginner to the early elementary/intermediate level. She places importance on learning basic skills and theory using the RCM curriculum. As well as a member of the Saskatoon Registered Music Teachers Association, Eunice is also a member of SRMTA and CRMTA. She spent many years as Treasurer of the Saskatoon branch and, for several years, she also helped to coordinate the Gordon Wallis and Florence Bowes Provincial Piano Competitions. She is a U of S graduate and has taught briefly in a classroom setting. She remains active in her church community as an accompanist and organist.

Biography I run an active piano studio in my home. I teach Piano and Theory to all age groups. I received my Diploma in Piano from the National Conservatory of Greece and my Bachelor of Arts (Honors) from The American College of Greece in Athens. Moreover, I have performed in several recitals in Greece. I recently completed The Royal Conservatory of Music’s “Teaching Elementary Piano Course”. In my opinion a teacher should never stop learning. I really love playing the Piano and teaching and am really enthusiastic in passing on my knowledge to my students. Adjusting every piano lesson according to the unique personality of each of my students is fundamental for me. Furthermore, my target is to achieve a relationship of trust with my students, a relationship that will give them the opportunity to express freely what they expect from me as their piano teacher and what they hope our lessons will offer them.

Biography Denille is happy to settle in a city of Saskatoon. She had lived in Toronto for 10 years before moving to Saskatoon, a quiet and friendly city. She has been a music teacher for 25 years. She is also an arranger, accompanist, choir director and church pianist. Now she concentrates in teaching piano both in Suzuki and traditional methods. In addition to piano teaching, she also teaches music theory, harmony and history. She obtained her degrees from University of the Philippines with Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Diploma in Creative Musical Arts in Piano Performance. Biography Nadya March holds an ARCT Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Licentiate Diploma from the University of Manitoba, a Bachelor of Music from Brandon University, and a Master’s in Piano Performance with Distinction from Indiana University School of Music . Nadya began lessons at age 8 in Winnipeg, studying with Mr John Melnyk ( whose teachers were Beryl Ferguson and Leonard Heaton. ) After obtaining her piano diploma and winning the highest awards for piano performance at the Winnipeg Music festival, Nadya completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Certificate of Education from the University of Manitoba while continuing to teach private students in piano and theory. After 2 years of public school teaching, Nadya pursued a Bachelor’s in Music from Brandon University , and continued to perform , teach privately (piano , theory, harmony ) and enter competitions. In the years following, Nadya completed her Masters and all coursework and recitals towards a Doctorate in Music while teaching as an associate instructor of Piano at Indiana University,Bloomington , Indiana. Returning from studies to Canada, Nadya taught a large class of piano students at Medicine Hat College over a three year period, and then taught piano for 7 years at the University of Saskatchewan. Nadya has been an active member of the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music since 1995 and she continues to teach privately (piano, theory, harmony) at her home studio in Saskatoon.

Mus, RMT, is an experienced pianist, vocalist, and music educator having earned her Bachelor of Music degree (’95) from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. Upbeat with a passion for providing superior music education, her teaching style reflects her love for a wide variety of music, creative communication, and enthusiasm for the student’s musical journey. Whether it is teaching the Royal Conservatory of Music program, musical theatre, pop, rock, jazz, or country, she enjoys exploring all styles of music with her students. Biography My goal is to teach students the fundamentals of the instrument in a musical context so they develop the skill to play the music they want to play with confidence and ease. I studied music and music education at Mount Allison University and the University of Victoria. I teach clarinet up to an RCM grade 8 level, flute and piano up to an RCM grade 5 level, and saxophone and oboe up to RCM grade 3. I have a B.Mus. in music education from the University of Victoria and over ten years’ experience, having been both a public school teacher in BC and Alberta and a private music teacher in Saskatoon.

Biography Barbara Montalbetti is a graduate of the Music University of Vienna, Austria where she sang with the company of the Theater an der Wien. Her diverse talents have resulted in a varied career as a voice teacher, performer, adjudicator, opera clinician, and stage director. Barbara has been Saskatoon Opera’s Artistic Director since 2000.

Biography Dr. Sofia Mycyk is a classical pianist, collaborator and teacher in Saskatoon. She recently graduated with a Doctorate in the Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota where she held a Teaching Assistantship in Collaborative Piano. Her advisors were Dr. Timothy Lovelace and Dr. Michael Kim. She has performed as soloist with the Hart House Orchestra in Toronto and has been featured at the Landowska Harpsichord Society in Chicago, the Dekker Centre, in the Lyell Gustin Recital Series, and the Ritornello Chamber Music Festival. In 2018 Sofia was twice featured in LOFTrecital concerts in Minneapolis, and was the winner of the University of Minnesota Bands Concerto Competition and subsequently performed in Ted Mann Concert Hall with the University of Minnesota Chamber Winds. She also released her first album entitled Hutzulian Watercolours, featuring solo piano music by Ukrainian composers. In the summers of 2018 and 2019 she performed at the Lakes Area Music Festival as an orchestral pianist. Last fall she performed again in the LOFTrecital series and presented a solo piano recital for Thursday Musical Community Concerts. Dr. Mycyk continues to offer online and in-person piano lessons. Her studio accepts a full range of students from beginner to advanced levels. She also teaches theory, coaches chamber music, and is an experienced accompanist and vocal coach.

Biography Bonnie graduated from the U of S with a Master of Arts Degree (Music) in 1986. Teachers and influences are varied and include mentor Professor Robin Harrison. Since 1985, she has worked at the Department of Music, and also guides talented young piano students from her home studio. A collaborative artist, Bonnie has worked most recently with the Saskatoon Fireside Singers, trumpeter Dean McNeill, and saxophonist Glen Gillis. In 2012, Bonnie fulfilled a life-long dream to travel and perform in China, completing a five University tour called “Music Across the World” with Glen Gillis.
